Reviewed from the September 4 spoken guide and training demonstration against the September 3 patch. That patch fixed Auto Execution sound and Joint Pierce interactions; it does not establish a new damage multiplier for this build. The video description contains unrelated older patch copy, so this page sources the actual video timestamps instead. No independent in-game test by this site.
The 15 September class balance pass changed picks this build makes. Nobody has retested it on the new numbers, so the build below is what the creator recorded, not what it now does:
- Execution — Damage slightly reduced on delayed Executions and on consecutive Executions.
- Smiting — Execute no longer triggers the affix. Read with the Blackarrow line below, the same affix is corrected in both directions in one patch — any Smiting figure measured before 15 September was measuring one of the two faults.

Choose a replaceable kit
- Green16:22
The lower-cost plan prioritises Strife and Smiting, with one Valor point in the stated setup. The creator calls Strife cheaper than Valor; no stable gold price is supplied. Green-versus-purple footage begins at 9:58.
- Blue16:47
Burst, Smiting, Valor, Strife and Elusive, with Warblood. Burst is the damage flex; replace it with Aegis for defence. This is a separately described tier, not the purple list with cheaper items.
- Purple17:08
Adds Vitality for energy sustain and Resilience targeting 20% shorter debuffs, especially for Blackarrow. Burst remains optional: the creator suggests Aegis instead, moving a point out of Valor to reach Aegis 5.
What it does
The premise
Soulgrot uses Withering Mark and Auto Execution to put an opponent under timed pressure, with Parry and Radiant Retribution creating follow-up windows. His September 4 guide separates affordable Strife/Smiting gear from blue and purple upgrades. It replaces the older creator setup on this URL as a whole; it is not a blended best-build list.
The loop
- Read the opponent before committing: hold Parry to punish an attack, or use Thorn Guide after a punishable movement (0:26; 12:07).
- Apply Withering Mark and track its Auto Execution detonation; use that pressure to punish, disengage or heal rather than ignoring the timer (1:17; 12:51).
- Use Radiant Retribution to track the breakout dodge. Its final hit creates the demonstrated light/heavy follow-up when it connects (13:38).
- Reset with cover against ranged pressure. The creator’s Blackarrow fight at 5:03 shows why chasing in the open without Resilience is dangerous.
Skills
Skill slots, and what is deliberately left out
Chase and punish. The creator emphasises tracking the breakout dodge and the final hit; do not assume the whole animation has super armour.
Preferred for punishing and recovery. Breakthrough Charge is the author’s alternative for immediate engagement, not an extra simultaneous skill slot.
Talents
Talents in the creator's stated priority order
Listed in the order they recommend spending points, not in tree order — the first entries are the ones that change how the build functions rather than how hard it hits.
- Greatsword specialisation12:43
The stance specialisation named first in the walkthrough. This is source presentation order, not a verified point-by-point levelling route.
- Auto Execution12:51
Lets Withering Mark detonate on its own. The author takes it over Bad Karma, accepting lower burst and the possibility that a player dodges the detonation.
- Tactical Preparation?13:07
Named as a required Parry choice alongside Unstoppable. Caption spelling is not independently verified against a current tooltip.
- Unstoppable13:07
The other required Parry choice in this source; the site has no verified standalone catalogue record to preselect.
- Long Range13:14
The Radiant Retribution choice the creator calls mandatory.
Affixes
Affixes to chase
- Burst16:47
Blue and purple damage flex. Aegis is the explicitly offered defensive alternative.
Purple priority, targeting 20% debuff-duration reduction; the author also permits it in blue gear, especially for Blackarrow.
Execution
The parts that are technique, not gear
Copying the talent tree gets you none of this. These are the patterns the creator demonstrates on camera.
Mirror matchup: parry second 03:22
Against another Withered Knight, the creator waits out the first parry and holds his own longer. Treat this as his demonstrated duel tactic, not a guaranteed counter under every latency condition.
Fight Blackarrow around cover 05:03
Without Resilience, use the wall instead of chasing through open ground. The example includes help from a nearby mob; it is not a controlled one-on-one benchmark.
Thorn Guide can pull you into danger 06:10
A super-armoured Mercenary can turn the pull into a free punish on you. Avoid treating Thorn Guide as a safe opener into active super armour.
Choose the follow-up deliberately 14:02
After Thorn Guide the creator distinguishes two lights for faster Withering Mark application from light then heavy for more damage. Aim and the opponent’s response still determine the result.
Honest limits
What this build is bad at
A build page without this section is an advertisement.
- Ranged opponents and exposed terrain are a serious problem without cover and Resilience; the source recommends avoiding Blackarrow fights without that defence.
- Auto Execution trades some immediate burst for timed pressure, and an opponent can dodge its detonation.
- Some footage includes third parties or teaming; green beating purple is an example, not proof that gear does not matter.
- No valid import code is supplied in the captured description. Use the sourced picks and planner link; this site does not reconstruct an in-game code.

Start with the verified catalogue picks from Soulgrot’s setup. The shared URL keeps the source and deployment context as you edit. It is a loadout sketch, not an in-game import code or a validated talent tree.
12 of 17 listed picks have catalogue records. Only that tier’s linked affix goals preselect; unverified picks stay in the guide. Changing rarity does not calculate a price or guarantee a legal in-game allocation.
