Patch 7 August 2026 update
Updated 2026-08-12

Does Mistfall Hunter Have Character Creation?

Yes — pick one of six classes, then customise face, hair and body in a full appearance editor. And it is not a one-shot decision: an Appearance Reset at the Gyldenblod Pool re-opens the editor for Gyldenblod, gender included.

Short answer

Yes, and more of one than most extraction games bother with. Creating a character means picking one of the six classes and then customising appearance — body type, face, hair and the rest — in a proper editor. The part people ask about on the boards is the second half: none of it is permanent. An Appearance Reset at the Gyldenblod Pool, in front of Dew at camp, re-opens the editor for an existing character for Gyldenblod, body type and gender included. The one thing no editor changes is your class — that is a new character, and the game makes new characters cheap on purpose.

Where this is being asked · On the Steam board hours after launch — the 30 July "Change appearance after character creation?" thread is a player who noticed name changes cost 500 gold and wanted to know whether looks were similarly negotiable. The accepted answer arrived on 1 August: the reset at the pool in front of Dew.

Evidence

The answer, broken into claims

A grade describes sourcing, not truth. Inferred means we concluded it and the reasoning is shown; unverified means someone asserted it and nobody stands behind it.

  • CorroboratedCharacter creation includes an appearance editor, and an Appearance Reset at the Gyldenblod Pool re-opens it later, gender and body type included.

The accepted answer in the 30 July Steam thread ("Apperance reset" at the pool in front of Dew, 1 August), corroborated by two independent guides published 3 August 2026.

  • CorroboratedThe reset costs Gyldenblod, with the price shown in the editor, and cannot be used during an expedition.

Both 3 August guides; neither publishes a fixed number, and no official source states one.

  • UnverifiedRenaming a character costs 500 gold.

Stated by the opening post of the launch-day Steam thread; nobody in the thread disputes it, and no second source confirms it.

What you decide, and when you can change your mind

The useful way to answer this question is not "yes" but a table of which decisions stay open. Everything cosmetic is revisable; the class is the one genuine commitment, and even that has a cheap workaround.

Where the reset lives, and its one real restriction

The Appearance Reset is an interaction on the Gyldenblod Pool itself — the pool in front of Dew, in the central camp hub. It cannot be used mid-expedition; finish the run first. The exact Gyldenblod price is shown in the editor before you confirm, and no official source publishes the number, so this page does not pretend to know it.

  • Editing appearance changes nothing mechanical — level, skills, gear and quest progress are untouched.
  • The pool is the same station whose upgrades unlock extra character slots from level 3, which is why this page and the camp guide keep pointing at each other.
§03

Why "how many characters can I have" is the same question

Half the appearance threads are really slot questions — someone wants a second look without losing the first. That is what character slots are for: from Gyldenblod Pool level 3, each pool upgrade unlocks another slot, and a fresh character walks into the same account-wide camp, warehouse, gold and quest progress. The only per-character things are class, level and looks — and looks, as above, are editable anyway.

Expiry condition

What would have to change for this answer to be wrong

An answer about a live-service game without this is an answer with a hidden expiry date.

A patch removes the reset, fixes its price, or adds the one thing it currently cannot do — reclassing an existing character. Any of those would be a patch-note item, and the launch-window evidence here is all from the first week, so treat a months-later contradiction as the newer fact.
