What Path of Glory is

Path of Glory is the game’s ranked system, announced in the developer notes before launch as a seven-tier ladder. It unlocks once your character reaches level 6.

Opt-in, per player, without splitting your friends

Each team member independently chooses whether to enable Path of Glory, and enabling it does not alter the underlying matchmaking rules. That means a ranked player and an unranked friend can queue together in the same squad — an unusually friendly design decision and worth knowing before you assume ranked will isolate you.

How you earn and lose points

Points come from a spread of activities rather than kills alone, and the amount each action is worth scales with your current tier. There is a cap on how much you can earn in a single match, so a monster run does not carry you.

  • Earning: defeating other Gyldhunters, successful extractions, defeating monsters, completing tasks, acquiring assets.
  • Losing: points are only deducted if you fail to extract.
  • Higher tiers change how much each action yields.

What that scoring implies

Because the only penalty is failing to extract, and because per-match earnings are capped, the efficient ranked play is not maximum aggression. It is hitting the cap through a mix of monsters, tasks and loot, and then leaving. Fighting a squad after your cap is met is pure downside.

Seasons

Season 1 is Soul Hunt, shipped at launch. The developers stated in the community AMA that seasons run three to four months, and a mid-season Hallowgrove addition called the Ancestor Tree is planned — a dynamic spawn that asks squads to choose between contesting high-tier treasure and cashing out safely.
