The one currency you cannot farm
Almost everything in Mistfall Hunter answers to time in a run. Moonlight Nectar does not. It cannot be found in chests, carried out of an extraction or dropped by a boss — the ways in are a short, closed list, and that is what makes it the game's long chase rather than a currency. Players usually meet it for the first time in the mail, as part of a milestone reward, and then cannot find it anywhere in the world.
- Granted by the developers for events — the 1,000,000-player milestone mail carried Moonlight Nectar ×5, claimable before 12 August 2026 at 12:00 UTC+0.
- Granted by one-time quests over the course of a season.
- Bought from the Mall shop for 200 coins apiece, where the item card classes it as "Currency" and the tooltip reads "Used to exchange for Raw Ore." For scale, the weapon skins on the same shop page are 1,500 and the emotes 66 to 99.
- Traded from the Soul Harvest Exchange Shop, which lists Moonlight Nectar alongside Soul Coins and exclusive collectibles.
- Not lootable. No run, difficulty or boss drops it, which is the thing players go looking for and never find.
The chain: Nectar to Ore to Spindle to skin
Nectar is an input, not a reward, and the item card says so in four words: used to exchange for Raw Ore. You take it to the Moon Goddess statue and refine it, choosing a small, medium or large ore, and what comes back is a random quantity of Star Silver Ore. Star Silver is the currency that actually buys things, and it buys two: Voidflame weapons from the Curio shop, and the Star Silver Spindle. The Spindle is the interesting one, because it is the only way to clear the far landmark at the watchtower — and clearing that is what unlocks the Galaxy skin, along with the poses, taunts, emotes and frames on the way.
| Step | Where | What comes out |
|---|---|---|
| Acquire Nectar | Mail, quests, Mall shop at 200 coins, Soul Harvest Exchange | Moonlight Nectar — classed as Currency |
| Exchange and refine | Moon Goddess statue, choosing small, medium or large Raw Ore | Star Silver Ore, random amount |
| Spend | Curio Shop | Voidflame weapons, or a Star Silver Spindle |
| Clear the landmark | Watchtower | Poses, taunts, emotes, frames — and the Galaxy skin last |

The arithmetic, and why it made people angry
One creator ran the in-game probabilities and their own refines and reported that the small, medium and large ore rolls average out to roughly the same return — about 52 Star Silver per Nectar, regardless of which you pick. At that rate a single Voidflame weapon or a single Spindle costs on the order of 137 Nectar. Put the shop price against that and the chase acquires a number: at 200 coins each, 137 Nectar is roughly 27,400 coins for one step of a multi-step track. Set that against the list above, where the routes that cost nothing are event mail and one-time quests, and it stops looking like a grind and starts looking like a wall.
- ≈52 Star Silver per Moonlight Nectar on average, with the choice of ore size making no meaningful difference to the return.
- ≈137 Nectar for one Voidflame weapon or one Spindle, which is the figure that turns the cosmetic into a months-long project.
- ≈27,400 coins for that one step, if bought outright. That is our multiplication of a shop price we have read off the client against a refine average we have not — treat the coin figure as an order of magnitude.
- Choosing between small, medium and large ore is therefore not a decision. If a later patch changes that, this is the number to re-check first.
- We have deliberately not converted coins into money. The coin-to-currency price is a store bundle rate we have not read ourselves, and multiplying two unverified numbers produces a headline with nothing underneath it.
Why this is the strongest candidate for surviving a seasonal reset
The developers have said progression resets at the end of each season and that some long-term progression is retained, without naming a single thing that falls in the second category. Moonlight Nectar is the best argument anyone has for what belongs there. At the rate it is granted, 137 Nectar cannot be assembled inside one three-to-four-month season without spending — so a reset that took it would put the Galaxy skin permanently out of reach for everyone who does not pay, which is not a coherent design for a chase item. That is reasoning about intent, and intent is not a statement.
- Same argument, weaker form, for the collection pedestal: a display case for earned items is hard to justify if it empties every season.
- Nothing here is confirmed. If you are spending money on the assumption that Star Silver persists, you are betting on our reasoning rather than on Bellring's word.
- The full ledger of what is stated, argued and unknown lives on the resets page.
