Mistfall Hunter Shadowstrix PvP Build (Dagger i-Frames)
Swanifier’s Shadowstrix PvP build: Shadow Strike as an i-frame bait, Flash Stride as the heal punish, the energy economy that decides every fight, and brew-gated purple and blue affix kits.

The PvP half of the same problem as the bait-and-stun setup, and all four passes name something it takes. Phantom Shift is in three: cooldown increased 12 August, the speed boost restricted to movement towards enemies on 28 August, and the wind-up lengthened on 3 September. A build whose escape is a recast Phantom Shift has had that escape taxed three separate times, and the 3 September change is the one an opponent can react to. Spinning Slash lost Super Armor duration on 12 August and damage and movement distance on 28 August. Battle Frenzy's Physical Piercing was greatly reduced on 12 August. Lightweight was fixed on 19 and 28 August. One-shot claims in the 4 August footage also predate the 3 September Gyldening fixes. Documentary check only, no in-game retest.
The 3 September class balance pass changed a pick this build makes. Nobody has retested it on the new numbers, so the build below is what the creator recorded, not what it now does:
- Phantom Shift — Wind-up duration increased. The skill still goes where it went; it announces itself for longer first.
The 28 August class balance pass changed picks this build makes. Nobody has retested it on the new numbers, so the build below is what the creator recorded, not what it now does:
- Spinning Slash — Damage and movement distance both reduced, stated as aimed at indiscriminate Super Armor counterattacks while keeping the skill’s core behaviour. Cut on 12 August as well, where it lost Super Armor duration.
- Phantom Shift — The speed boost now applies only while moving toward enemies, so the skill no longer shortens a disengage.
- Lightweight — Two fixes: a dodge combined with a jump produced abnormal movement distances, and the talent could trigger abnormally. The 19 August pass had fixed a third fault on the same talent — dodges failing to grant invincibility frames at all.
The 19 August class balance pass changed a pick this build makes. Nobody has retested it on the new numbers, so the build below is what the creator recorded, not what it now does:
- Lightweight — Fixed: triggering the talent with a dodge failed to grant invincibility frames.
The 12 August class balance pass changed picks this build makes. Nobody has retested it on the new numbers, so the build below is what the creator recorded, not what it now does:
- Spinning Slash — Super Armor duration slightly reduced.
- Phantom Shift — Cooldown increased.
- Battle Frenzy — Physical Piercing granted by the talent greatly reduced.

What it does
The premise
The highest-viewed post-launch Shadowstrix guide, and a different animal from the wound-threshold build already on this site: this one is organised around baiting. Shadow Strike is played as an i-frame — invite the swing, phase through it, and stun from behind while they are stuck in the animation — and everything downstream is about having the energy to convert the stun, because “the more energy you have, the more you can snowball a fight and just destroy someone 100 to zero.” The gameplay half of the video is him running solo into trios.
The loop
- Bait the attack, i-frame it with Shadow Strike, and land the stun from behind the animation — a guaranteed hit, not a gamble.
- Swap to dual blades and convert: Bloodthirst Frenzy’s blade dance amps damage, reflects projectiles, and refunds energy on the reflect.
- Flash Stride is held for the heal: a target who backs off to drink is locked in the potion animation and guaranteed to eat it.
- Watch the energy bar like a second health bar — running dry mid-snowball is how this class dies.
Skills
Skill slots, and what is deliberately left out
Played as an i-frame first and a stun second: bait the attack, phase through it, and fire the strike from behind while they are locked in the animation — “which guarantees the stun”.
The long-range heal punish. A target who thinks they made safe distance and starts drinking is stuck in the potion animation and guaranteed to be hit.
His solo pick for the third slot — with the recast talent it is an escape that forks: chase the clone or chase you, and either answer is wrong for them.
The trio alternative to Phantom Shift — “very very good”, but only ever taken with both of its talents.
“A non-negotiable in my opinion. You will always take this on dual blades no matter what.”
Talents
Talents in the creator's stated priority order
Listed in the order they recommend spending points, not in tree order — the first entries are the ones that change how the build functions rather than how hard it hits.
The under-geared equaliser: “fighting someone even two gear sets above you, this talent can carry the fight for you super hard.”
Faster animation exits, which is what an i-frame baiting style runs on. Deep Charge is the stated swap if you prefer it.
Energy on Flash Stride — and the multi-hit refund makes it the 1v3 talent: hitting several enemies “can recover more energy than you use to cast the ability”. The named cut if you take Deep Charge instead.
“Insanely overpowered”: blade dance amps your damage on hit, reflects projectiles, and refunds energy per reflect — three currencies from one button, if you angle it right.
Movement speed on hit — the sticking power that keeps a low target from reaching their heal range in the first place.
- Phantom Shift recast?02:30
The teleport’s second charge: recast for free when they chase you, or keep running when they guard the clone. He rates the plain Unstoppable damage amp as weak by comparison — about 5%, briefly.
Affixes
Affixes to chase
- Fervor03:00
Core in both kits — five in blues. Fast dual-blade hits reach its stacking condition almost immediately. (This is the affix whose name our disagreements section flags as unsettled between “Fervor” and “Fervid”.)
- Valor03:00
Core in both kits — five in blues.
- Stoic03:00
Core in both kits — five in blues.
- Aegis03:00
Core in both kits — five in blues. With the three above, the non-droppable four.
- Vitality03:00
“Very, very important” — energy is this class’s real health bar — but four points of it are gated behind a level-four brew. Without the brew, run Elusive instead.
- Elusive03:00
The flexible slot opposite Vitality: droppable on purples with a brew, the fallback on blues without one.
- Resilience03:30
The trio swap — in place of Vitality, Elusive or Strife, “depends on what role you’re playing in your team comp”.
Execution
The parts that are technique, not gear
Copying the talent tree gets you none of this. These are the patterns the creator demonstrates on camera.
The bait is the opener 00:00
Stand where the swing is inviting, i-frame through it with Shadow Strike, and stun from inside their animation. The stun is guaranteed when it is fired from the bait — and a coin-flip when it is fired at neutral, which is why Nimble’s refund only pays alongside patience.
Hold Flash Stride for the potion 00:30
The skill is not a gap closer to spend at the start — it is the answer to the heal. The drinking animation is a lock, and a locked target is the one guaranteed hit this class gets at range.
Reflect for profit 02:00
Bloodthirst blade dance reflects projectiles and refunds energy per reflect. Against a Blackarrow or Sorcerer, angling the dance into their fire converts their damage into your snowball fuel.
Get the brew before the purples 03:00
His affix kits assume a level-four tavern brew, and four Vitality is unreachable without it. His priority is explicit: the brew first — “it is very important for PvP” — then gear.
Honest limits
What this build is bad at
A build page without this section is an advertisement.
- Energy-starved by design: his own framing is that the energy bar is a second health bar, and an empty one mid-fight is lethal.
- The affix kits are brew-gated — a reader without the level-four tavern upgrade cannot copy the purple kit as written, and the page keeps his downgrade path visible.
- Nimble is dead weight for a player who has not learned the bait; he says to fix the habit before keeping the talent.
- Build codes exist in his description but are not reproduced here — codes rot, and the description was not captured with the transcript.
- The wound-threshold dual-blades build on this site is the early-game on-ramp; this one assumes you already win animations.
