Mistfall Hunter Sorcerer Builds

Three published Sorcerer builds — Elemental behind the chant, Stardust built to skip it, and Toonchie’s September fire-and-ice combo — with the talent and affix thresholds each one is gated behind, transcribed with timestamps.

The short answer

The Sorcerer splits on one question: whether you are willing to stand still for a chant. Elemental pays its true damage only when the chant completes and Stardust spends its whole build on skipping the chant phase, so the two are opposite answers rather than variants. The newest build takes a third position and drops both — it calls the true-damage talents traps in PvP and wins on one Fire Bolt into a freeze instead.

3 published buildsAll re-read against the 3 Sep patch1 recorded after the 28 Aug passRanged damage

All three were re-read against the 3 September patch, but only one was RECORDED after it — the chips on each card say which. That distinction matters more here than on other classes: the two August builds are built around chant behaviour the September source argues is no longer worth paying for, and neither creator has answered the other.

§01

Pick one

Sorcerer builds, filtered by how you play

The filters are a reading aid, not a re-labelling — every card still shows the creator’s own wording for the format, because “PvP, solo-leaning” is a hedge they meant.

§02

Which stance

Elemental magic or Stardust magic

This class swaps stances, so “which build” is mostly “which stance you want to spend the fight in”. Both briefs stay on the page; the button only moves the emphasis.

Elemental magic

The chant is a promise to stand still

  • Fire Bolt only pays its partial true damage on a completed chant. Everything else in the August build defends that window.
  • Chant-through-dodge is the talent that makes the promise survivable, and that build is much worse without it.
  • Crystal Icebolt and Thunderstorm Sigil are the two picks that do work while the chant is running.
  • The September build disputes the whole premise: it says the true-damage talents do almost nothing in PvP, cuts them, and runs Fire Bolt purely for the mark that sets up a freeze.
  • Both August sources open by calling this the hardest class in the game, and neither of them softens it.

Stardust magic

Buy your way out of the chant

  • Three instant-cast talents are a hard threshold — the build does not function partway to them.
  • Five stacks of the anti-interrupt affix is the second threshold. Miss either and this is a worse Elemental.
  • Meteor Charm, Rock Blast and Tempest are the payload the instant cast is for.
  • The one Sorcerer build that reads as solo *and* trio rather than solo-with-a-caveat.
§03

Stat & affix priorities

What to roll for, and who said so

Derived by reading the published builds against each other rather than by picking a winner: an affix every build takes is load-bearing, and an affix they split on is the finding.

02

Valor

The September build keeps it as the ONLY damage affix and moves everything else to defence — the clearest single statement any Sorcerer source makes about gearing.

03

ElusiveContested

Contested — the chant build’s survival budget, because a chant cannot be defended by moving. The other two spend the slot elsewhere: Stardust on Eloquence and Ranged, the fire-and-ice build on Aegis.
