Pip takes it — and Prayer is one of his own clue words, so the card and the official word rule agree. Read the word on your copy first.
Short answer
Hand it to Pip, who runs the Auction House. Like the Echo Cipher this is one of the firmer pairings, because Prayer is not only the item's name — it is a word on Pip's own card. Bellring's official rule matches on the printed word, so a copy showing Prayer is Pip's by the rule, and the community card independently says Pip as well. Where your copy prints a different word, that word decides instead.
How you get it
From the loot table during a run — locked chests, purple-marked enemies and unidentified items. No launch-mail copy of this cipher has been announced.
The bonus is matched on the word your cipher carries, not on which cipher it is — so the right NPC differs between two players holding the same one. Type what is printed on yours.

Where are the words?
Open the cipher in camp or in your bag. It prints two clue words. 47 words are mapped across the seven camp NPCs below, and handing a cipher to the wrong one still pays the base result — the only thing at stake is the bonus.
A grade describes sourcing, not truth. An unverified row is not one we think is wrong — it is one nobody has stood behind.
OfficialEvery cipher has one NPC who "truly knows how to decipher its secrets" and pays a bonus for it.
Bellring Games, Golden Cipher event page, read 2026-08-07. A general rule, not a quirk of one cipher.
CorroboratedThe Prayer Cipher pays its bonus with Pip — supported by the creator card and, independently, by Prayer appearing in Pip's own clue-word list.
Desorden (2026-08-09) prints "Código de oración (Prayer Cipher)" on Pip's card, and Prayer appears in his keyword list on the same card. The name-word overlap is what lifts this above the single-source pairings.
CorroboratedLevel 5 gates the Decipher option, all seven camp NPCs offer it, and the cipher is consumed on use.

§01
Why this pairing is firmer than the other reported ones
Pip's vocabulary is the most-searched of the seven, and Prayer is why. The word sits in his list alongside Mantra, Tree Hollow, Secret Cache, Elder Edict, Score and Plucking — things kept, hidden or performed. Because the cipher shares its name with a word he already owns, the official word rule and the creator card converge without either having to be taken on trust. That is a stronger position than most named ciphers are in, and it is worth stating precisely rather than letting the page imply that every pairing is equally solid.
Pip keeps the Auction House: Mantra, Tree Hollow, Secret Cache, Elder Edict, Score, Plucking, and Prayer.
Prayer reached this site late — Game Rant titled an article after this cipher on 6 August without ever pairing it, so the word lived only inside a citation URL until the creator card surfaced.
Three named ciphers are reported to his desk: Prayer, Elder Edict and Mantra.
§02
The word on your copy still outranks the name
The name being a good default does not make it the answer for your copy. Ciphers print word clues, two players holding the same named cipher can hold different words, and the bonus follows the word. Read yours, then deliver — the item is consumed on acceptance and there is no second attempt.
The decoder takes both words in any order and shows which one produced the name.
Level 5 unlocks Decipher on all seven camp NPCs.
Handing it to the wrong NPC still pays the base amount; only the bonus is lost.
§03
No reward table exists for it
What a Prayer Cipher pays has not been published. The precise percentages circulating under cipher headings are the Golden Cipher's, from the Gylden Rush event page, and attaching them to this item would be borrowing a source that is about something else. The bonus for a correct delivery is described by press sources only as having a high chance of Epic rarity.
§04
Where they come from, and keeping yours
Ciphers drop during ordinary runs, which makes them replaceable and also stealable. One carried in your ordinary bag is part of your killer's payout; one in the safe pouch survives. Move it the moment it drops.
Locked chests, which are the most reliable placed source.
Marked enemies — the ones carrying a purple brand — and the containers they guard.
Unidentified items: every one of them has a chance to resolve into a cipher.

The only source that pairs named ciphers to NPCs, reading each NPC's card off screen. The creator states plainly that not everything in it is confirmed and asks viewers to report corrections, so every pairing it establishes is graded reported, never official.
Official — that every cipher has one NPC who "truly knows how to decipher its secrets" and pays a bonus for it, and that the match is made per cipher rather than being cosmetic.

Prayer Cipher FAQ
Pip, who runs the Auction House. Prayer is one of his own clue words, so a copy printed Prayer resolves to Pip under Bellring's official word rule as well as on the community card. If your copy prints a different word, that word decides.
