Mistfall Hunter Mercenary Builds

Every published Mercenary build — parry sword-and-shield, hammer stun and the Skullcrusher PvP combo — each transcribed from one named creator with timestamps, and which of the two stances it actually plays.

The short answer

Two Mercenary builds are worth starting from: the parry sword-and-shield setup if you want the forgiving version that trades hits back, and the hammer if you want the stun ladder. Both lost invincibility frames on their dodges in the 28 August pass, so both now hold ground rather than rolling out of it.

The 19 August pass cut Perfect Block stagger, Perfect Defense energy in solo, Stacked Slash PvP damage and the Impalement hitbox. The 28 August pass took invincibility frames off Dynamic Charge and Relentless Advance and gave Skullcrusher a cooldown. Every build below is dated, and only one of the four was recorded after that second pass — the chips above each card say which.

§01

Pick one

Mercenary builds, filtered by how you play

The filters are a reading aid, not a re-labelling — every card still shows the creator’s own wording for the format, because “PvP, solo-leaning” is a hedge they meant.

§02

Which stance

Sword & Shield or Warhammer

This class swaps stances, so “which build” is mostly “which stance you want to spend the fight in”. Both briefs stay on the page; the button only moves the emphasis.

Sword & Shield

Hold the ground you are standing on

  • Active blocking, heavier armour, and a shield bash that genuinely interrupts.
  • The launch update widened the perfect-parry window, and nothing since has narrowed it.
  • Master Deemo’s parry build is built entirely inside that window — Rising to the Challenge, Absolute Punishment, Stone Breaker Counter.
  • It is still a chase build. Against a Blackarrow who never lets you close, the stance does not have an answer.

Warhammer

Climb the stun ladder instead

  • Six stacks and the next attack stuns; heavy and skill hits pay 2, light hits 1, and a spin only pays its 2 on the final hit.
  • Hammer of Convergence makes the same charges that build stacks build resistance as well.
  • Warhammer Sling is the ranged option nobody expects this class to have — and it is the stance’s only reply to kiting.
  • Gear-gated: the rank-1 Mercenary’s own framing is that hammer is weak until the gear arrives.
§03

Stat & affix priorities

What to roll for, and who said so

Derived by reading the published builds against each other rather than by picking a winner: an affix every build takes is load-bearing, and an affix they split on is the finding.
