Mistfall Hunter Glossary

The words every other page on this site leans on. Thirty-two records mention Wither; nothing said what it was. This is where that gets said once.

6 of 10entries are quoted from an in-game tooltip. The rest are this site’s own wording and say so, with the evidence they rest on printed underneath — the game does not define most of its own vocabulary in one place, and pretending otherwise would be the easy lie here. Last checked 2026-08-06.

Shared vocabulary

Words that turn up in more than one class’s records. Each row shows every class in the same order, so two terms can be compared by the shape of their reach rather than by a number.

Super Armor

Editorial15 records

A state in which an attack completes even though you are being hit. It does not reduce the damage you take — it removes the interruption, which is what lets a slow weapon finish a swing inside a fight that is already going.

No tooltip captured so far defines the term; a dozen of them grant it. The definition here is what those grants have in common, and the clearest single demonstration is the Mercenary hammer, whose entire case rests on continuing to spin through incoming hits.

Crowd control debuff

In-game tooltip7 records

The game groups Stunned, Frozen, Immobilize and Dodge Distance Reduction under one heading. That last member is the surprising one: a Blackarrow’s Barbed Arrow slow counts as crowd control, so an affix that answers stuns answers it too.

Breakaway

Editorial5 records

After two instances of impact damage in quick succession, a dodge breaks you out of stagger and ignores collision with other units. Every class has it defensively. Forcing an opponent to spend theirs is a different matter, and a kit built on damage over time mostly cannot.

The trigger condition is consistent across launch-week coverage. The asymmetry in the second half comes from a leaderboard Blackarrow, who names a light stagger into Scattershot as the only route his class has.

Wither

Editorial17 records

The Withered Knight’s debuff, applied by charged attacks once the weapon reaches Judgment and by several Polearm & Shield skills outright. It is the setup half of the class: the detonation talents pay out against a target carrying it.

Named in every Withered Knight tooltip captured, and the launch Polearm & Shield skills say plainly which of them apply it. What no tooltip states is the debuff’s own numbers, so none are published here.

Class resources

Terms only one class ever meets. They are filed under that class rather than listed above, because a reach row with one mark lit reads as absence when what it actually means is specificity.

Mercenary

Stun stacks

In-game tooltip

The Mercenary hammer counter. Light hits give 1, heavy hits and skill hits give 2, and at 6 the next attack stuns and empties the counter. Hammer Spin is the exception worth knowing: its hits during the spin apply 1 each and only the final hit applies 2.

Blackarrow

Energy Overdraft

In-game tooltip

The state entered when Energy reaches zero: Energy recovers rapidly for a period, and meanwhile no Energy-costing skill can be used and Movement Speed drops. Vitality grants immunity to the current instance from level four.

Shadowstrix

Wound

In-game tooltip

Applied by Shadowstrix Dual Blades hits and lasting a short duration. At 10 stacks it detonates for True Damage. The stacks expire, so the threshold has to be reached inside that window rather than accumulated across a fight.

Seer

Construct

In-game tooltip

A player-generated object with a limited lifespan that can be destroyed. The game names the Seer’s Rune Pillar, Frostbite Trap, Eye of True Sight, the mushroom traps from Spore Arrow, and Forbidden Gate as examples.

Seer

Psionic Energy

Editorial

The Reverent Seer’s resource. Binding a player with Binding Rune refunds it, and Burst Rune refunds more the more enemies its impact catches — so the support kit is funded by landing crowd control rather than by waiting on a cooldown.

Both refund clauses are quoted verbatim in the Binding Rune and Burst Rune records. The game has not been seen defining the resource itself, so the framing is this site’s.

Withered Knight

Judgment

In-game tooltip

The charged state a Withered Knight weapon enters once its light-strike combo fills it. The next light strike then applies Wither. Polearm & Shield skills charge it on a successful hit rather than through the combo.
