The answer, and the two sentences it rests on
Mistfall Hunter is planned to reset progression at the end of each season, and some long-term progression is planned to survive the reset. That is the whole of what has been said, and it was said twice, by two different developer accounts, on either side of launch day. Neither reply lists what "long-term progression" covers, which is the part every player actually wants and the part nobody can answer yet. Dates below are UTC; Steam shows these timestamps in your own timezone, so the crops will not always agree with them.
- The difference between the two is worth noticing: the second says "we plan to", the first states it flat. Treat the hedge as the real confidence level.
- The second reply answers a player asking specifically whether resets would be optional, as they are in Arc Raiders. The developer did not take that option — so no, there is no evidence of an opt-out.
- Neither reply has been superseded by an announcement, a DevNote or the launch FAQ as of this update.

The game has wiped twice, and neither one was a season
A lot of the "this game wipes" folklore predates launch, and it is not wrong so much as it is about a different thing. Both wipes on record are test teardowns: the servers were switched off and the test data went with them, which is what happens at the end of every closed test in this genre. Neither was a live seasonal reset, because there has not been one yet.
| Date | Event | What was wiped |
|---|---|---|
| 26 September 2025 | End of Test | All test data, at server shutdown |
| 22 June 2026 | Playtest Conclusion | All playtest data, at server shutdown |
| 30 July 2026 onward | Live game, Season 1 — Soul Hunt | Nothing so far |

When the first reset can land, and why that date is arithmetic rather than news
Season 1 shipped with the game on 30 July 2026. The community AMA put season length at three to four months. Multiply those together and the first reset falls somewhere from late October to late November 2026 — but that is us doing sums on two published figures, not a date anyone has announced. No season end date has been published, and the in-game season tab shows a stage countdown rather than a season countdown.
- The season tab runs through five named stages — Unfurling, Omen, Warning, Torrent and Aftermath — read off the live client by one creator rather than published anywhere official.
- A five-stage structure suggests the season ends when the last stage does, which would make Aftermath the thing to watch. That is an inference from the names, and it is the weakest claim on this page.
- Season 2 has been announced with a Blackarrow javelin and a season-exclusive progression system, but no date. See the roadmap for what is dated and what is not.
What "long-term progression" might cover — an honest ledger
This is the section every other page on this subject fills in confidently, and there is nothing to fill it in with. The developers named a category and no members of it. What follows sorts your account into what has been stated, what the game's own design implies, and what is simply unknown — and the middle column is an argument, not an answer.
| What you own | Status | The reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Seasonal progression generally | Stated: resets | Both developer replies, verbatim above |
| Some long-term progression | Stated: retained | Both replies. No member of the category was named |
| Moonlight Nectar and Star Silver Ore | Unknown — argued to persist | The chase runs far longer than one season at the rate it is granted, so a reset would make it unreachable for non-paying players. That is a design argument, not a statement |
| Collection pedestal display | Unknown — argued to persist | A display case for items you have earned is difficult to justify if the case empties every season |
| Camp station upgrades | Unknown | Account-wide and slow, which is what "long-term" usually means in this genre — but it is exactly what resets in Tarkov and Arc Raiders |
| Gyldenblod, Soul Coins, stored gear and materials | Unknown | Ordinary seasonal currency and inventory in every comparable game, which is the case for it going |
| Class levels and class unlocks | Unknown | Never mentioned in either reply |

What to actually do between now and then
The useful posture is not to hoard and not to panic. Nothing is confirmed lost, so playing as though the account evaporates in October wastes a season; nothing is confirmed safe, so treating a warehouse full of purples as a retirement fund is the other mistake. Spend on the things that pay you back inside this season.
- Convert banked Gyldenblod into camp upgrades and gear you actually run. An upgrade used for three months has already paid; an unspent pile has not.
- Claim time-limited mail before it expires — those deadlines are real and dated, unlike the reset.
- If you are chasing the Star Silver cosmetics, the argument that they persist is the strongest one on this page, but it is still an argument. Do not spend money on that assumption.
- Watch for a Season 1 end date in the official feed rather than for a reset announcement; the date is what turns all of the above from arithmetic into a plan.
