The character level cap is 12, unchanged from the beta — confirmed on the Steam board within minutes of launch. Ranked unlocks at 6, and what continues past the cap is gear, ranks and camp, not levels.
Level 12, for every class. The cap carried over from the beta unchanged — a player asked on the Steam board on launch day whether it was still 12 and had a one-line confirmation within fifteen minutes. Levelling is the shortest progression track in the game: ranked play opens at level 6, and everything that keeps a character improving after 12 is gear, Path of Glory ranks and camp upgrades rather than experience.
Where this is being asked · On the Steam discussion board on launch day itself — the 30 July "Max Level" thread is a beta player checking whether the cap moved for release. It had not.

The answer, broken into claims
A grade describes sourcing, not truth. Inferred means we concluded it and the reasoning is shown; unverified means someone asserted it and nobody stands behind it.
CorroboratedThe character level cap is 12, for every class, unchanged from the beta.
Asked and answered on the Steam board on 30 July 2026 within fifteen minutes, and consistent with every launch-week guide that mentions a cap.
CorroboratedPath of Glory unlocks at character level 6.
Announced in the pre-launch developer notes and repeated by launch-week creator guides.
CorroboratedAt Gyldenblod Pool level 4, with one character at cap, an NPC levels a fresh character to max for 3,600 gold.
Two independent launch-build creators; the same fact anchors the class-change-fee answer.
UnverifiedReaching 12 costs 14,400 XP in total and grants 8 talent points.
One write-up published 5 August 2026. No official source, and not counted against the live client.
§01
What unlocks on the way to 12
The levelling track is short and front-loaded: the systems people actually wait for are open well before the cap. The two rows sourced to a single write-up are marked as such — nobody official has published a level table, which is itself worth knowing when a site presents one without saying where it came from.

§02
What the cap does not stop
Hitting 12 ends experience gain, not progression. The systems that keep moving are the ones the game is actually built around — and levelling a second character is deliberately cheap.
Path of Glory ranks climb independently of character level, through seven tiers.
Gear, affixes and the workshop keep compounding — the level cap is why the endgame conversation is about gear score rather than experience.
The camp belongs to the account, not the character. Its stations keep upgrading after every character you own is capped.
With the Gyldenblod Pool at level 4 and one character already at cap, an NPC will level a fresh character to max for 3,600 gold — which is why the class-change fee is usually the wrong purchase.
§03
The numbers nobody official has published
One launch-week write-up puts the full run to 12 at 14,400 XP and the total talent budget at 8 points. No official source states either figure, and we have not counted it against the live client, so both sit at the lowest evidence grade this site uses. They are repeated here because the question gets asked, not because they are established.
Expiry condition
What would have to change for this answer to be wrong
An answer about a live-service game without this is an answer with a hidden expiry date.
A patch raises the cap — which would be a headline change to the game’s whole progression argument, not a quiet tweak. The May playtest and the launch build both capped at 12; if a season raises it, it will be in the patch notes, and this page tracks the official feed.
