Mistfall Hunter Sorcerer Build: Fire and Ice PvP

Toonchie’s 8 September Sorcerer build: Fire Bolt marks, ice stomp freezes, free Flameblade — one combo for about 500 damage. Skills, talents, the two true-damage talents he calls traps, and a purple affix target.

Recorded five days after the 3 September pass and read against it here. Everything below is the creator’s stated setup with his own hedges kept — including the one he retracts on camera. This site has not retested any of it in game, and the damage figure is read off his own footage rather than measured.

Bellring Games publishes no official build guidance. Every build on this site is one named creator’s setup transcribed from their own video, never a consensus assembled here — see all builds for the ones that disagree with this one.

Choose a replaceable kit

  1. Purple01:01

His stated targets are Vitality 4, Valor 5 and Aegis 5. He then names Stoic 6 and immediately takes it back — "not six Stoic, I was trolling last night" — and says the points go to Vitality or Swift instead, leaning Vitality. He runs a legendary weapon with a purple set and brings the god brew when the kit is purple.

§01

What it does

The premise

The August Elemental build was a chant build: it stood still, finished the cast, and spent its talents on being allowed to. This one is not. Toonchie strips the damage affixes down to Valor alone, spends the rest on defence, and wins on a single two-skill combo — Fire Bolt marks the target, the ice stomp freezes it, and the free Flameblade lands for close to 500 in one exchange. His framing of the change is that the class is tankier and "just feels better overall" in both solo and trios.

The loop

  1. Land one Fire Bolt. The white mark it leaves is the enabler — until it is up, nothing else in the combo is available (02:37).
  2. Ice stomp into the mark to freeze, which buys the whole follow-up for free (02:37).
  3. Take the free fire sword. He shows it at almost 500 damage on one combo, and the ice stomp is only an 8-second cooldown, so the loop restarts quickly (02:52).
  4. Between combos, fish for blades in trios — but keep one ready for the next ice stomp rather than spending it (03:07; 03:20).
  5. Watch the staff. Fire, ice and electricity circling it means the next ability can also freeze, which is a second entry into the combo you did not have to set up (03:32).
§02

Skills

Skill slots, and what is deliberately left out

  1. Fire Bolt

The opener and the enabler. Its mark is what makes the target freezable or ignitable; nothing else in the loop works without it.

  2. Deep Freeze

The ice half of the pair he calls the constant — "we always have this deep freeze flame blade combo".

  3. Flameblade

The payoff swing off a frozen target. Free, in his framing, because the freeze buys the window.

  4. Mist Walk?01:28

Trio slot. Caption spelling is "miss walk" and no catalogue record corroborates it, so it is listed unlinked.

  5. Phantom Step

Trio slot. The escape used when somebody jumps you mid-loop.

  6. Windcraft

Trio slot, alongside Mist Walk and Phantom Step. He swaps into these three for trios specifically.

§03

Talents

Talents in the creator's stated priority order

Listed in the order they recommend spending points, not in tree order — the first entries are the ones that change how the build functions rather than how hard it hits.

  1. Full Arcana?01:42

Named first in his talent walkthrough. The caption spelling is not corroborated by a catalogue record and it is not the Stardust Arcana line, so it is left unlinked rather than guessed at.

  2. Deep Frost Embrace?01:42

Taken with Full Arcana. No verified catalogue record.

  3. Vitality Heal?01:42

Regains energy when Mist Walk is used — his own description, and the reason the loop can keep casting.

  4. Movement while casting (three nodes)?01:57

He takes all three of a movement-while-casting group without naming them individually. Recorded as he described it rather than split into invented names.

§04

Affixes

Affixes to chase

  1. Valor

The only damage affix he keeps. "I think the only damage you need to run is Valor" — everything else went defensive.

  2. Vitality

Target 4 on the purple kit, and where the retracted Stoic points go instead.

  3. Aegis
    Aegis01:01

Target 5. Part of the tankier direction he says the build moved in.

  4. The alternative home for the spare points if you would rather not stack Vitality. He leans Vitality himself.

  5. Stoic

Named at 6 and retracted in the same breath — "not six Stoic, I was trolling last night". Kept here because the retraction is the useful half.

§05

Execution

The parts that are technique, not gear

Copying the talent tree gets you none of this. These are the patterns the creator demonstrates on camera.

The two true-damage talents are traps in PvP 02:10

He is explicit and he says he tested it: the summon-Flameblade true damage and the Fire Bolt true damage "basically do nothing in PvP", for a very small damage increase. They are good against PvE, so he allows one exception — a blue kit going for a boss can take the Fire Bolt one. Otherwise, in his word, they are troll picks. This is the clearest disagreement between this build and the chant build already on this site, which spends its talents on making Fire Bolt’s true damage pay.

The staff tells you when the combo is already loaded 03:32

After setting a target ablaze, fire, ice and electricity circle the staff. That is the tell that the next ability can also freeze — a second combo entry with no Fire Bolt spent. He treats it as something to notice rather than to set up, which is why it is a technique and not a rotation step.

§06

Honest limits

What this build is bad at

A build page without this section is an advertisement.

  • The whole build is one combo. If Fire Bolt misses, the mark never appears and neither does the freeze or the free swing — there is no second plan in the kit he shows.
  • It is built for PvP and says so. Two talents that are good in PvE are cut precisely because they do nothing against players, so a PvE reader wants the other Sorcerer page.
  • The talent names come from machine captions and four of them could not be matched to a catalogue record. They are marked uncertain rather than presented as settled.
  • No in-game retest by this site. The ~500 damage figure is read off his footage, not measured.
  • He corrects his own affix target on camera, which means the setup he was running the night before is not the one he recommends.

Make it yours

Open this build in the planner

Start with the verified catalogue picks from Toonchie’s setup. The shared URL keeps the source and deployment context as you edit. It is a loadout sketch, not an in-game import code or a validated talent tree.

10 of 15 listed picks have catalogue records. Only that tier’s linked affix goals preselect; unverified picks stay in the guide. Changing rarity does not calculate a price or guarantee a legal in-game allocation.

Questions about this build

There is no single answer, and this site publishes the disagreement rather than picking. Toonchie’s 8 September fire-and-ice build is the newest and is built for PvP around one Fire Bolt → ice stomp → Flameblade combo. Master Deemo’s Elemental build takes the opposite position — it defends a chant and spends talents on the true damage this one calls a trap — and Reddalf’s Stardust build skips the chant phase a third way. Read the dates: only this one postdates the 3 September pass.
