Read the map as four broad regions
A corrupted valley divides Hallowgrove through the centre. The terrain around it changes enough that you can use the region itself as an orientation tool before you know individual points of interest.
- North-west: traditional Norse structures.
- North-east: rural, wooded ground with winding paths.
- South-east: craggy mountain terrain populated by humanoid lizards.
- South-west: castle ramparts and undead enemies.
Choose Normal or Chaos before you build the loadout
The queue applies a gear gate. These launch-week requirements come from hands-on coverage and should be checked against the live queue screen whenever a balance patch lands.
| Difficulty | Gear requirement | Combat bags allowed |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | Gear at or below Excellent (blue) | Novice, Advanced, Pro |
| Chaos | Equipment value at or above 800 Gyldenblod | Advanced, Pro, Elite |
Extraction: chime, butterflies, Woodling, channel
Hallowgrove does not use Brandrgarde’s random Woodling hunt. Returner chimes are already placed around the map when the expedition begins, so an extraction route exists from the first minute.
- Interact with a returner chime as soon as you are ready to create an exit.
- Follow the burst of butterflies to the nearby destination and watch the short spawn timer.
- Kill the Returner Woodling when it appears.
- Interact with the corpse and finish the channel that rings the return bell.
- Treat the top-right map timer as a hard deadline: the final collapse is almost immediate, not a slow battle-royale circle.
A practical first-run route
The safest plan is not a fixed line between named landmarks; it is a sequence that keeps an exit available while you learn which container pools and mission sites are worth repeating.
- At spawn, identify which of the four terrain regions you are in and read the remaining timer.
- Choose one nearby gold-outlined loot zone instead of crossing the whole map for a theoretical best spot.
- Take a blue-exclamation mission if it stays on the same side of the corrupted valley.
- When a nearby chime fits your route, decide whether the loot already in your safe pouch justifies leaving.
- After obtaining the bell, avoid loud fights that only advertise an exit to the rest of the lobby.
What usually kills a clean Hallowgrove run
The map feels forgiving because it does not squeeze you continuously, which makes the final deadline easy to ignore. The other common mistake is starting the Woodling chain only after the lobby has heard a major fight and begun rotating toward you.
- Do not confuse “no gradual circle” with “no time limit.”
- Do not cross the central valley repeatedly for low-value containers.
- Do not leave a completed mission reward outside the safe pouch while you take an optional boss fight.
