Mistfall Hunter General Harald Boss Guide

How the Einherjar Harald fight actually starts — the Dried Flower Knot, the Altar, the sealed chamber — plus datamined health by mode, his sight radii, and drop ranges instead of the flat 31.1% everyone else prints.

No source describes this fight’s moves, so this page lists none — the counts that exist (five on-hit reactions, two specials, three provokes, one interrupt, two signature abilities) are datamined structure, not telegraphs you can act on. Everything numerical here is MistfallDB’s datamined profile, quoted as datamined and unverified in the live build; everything about starting the fight is the in-game codex or Bellring’s own posts. The sites publishing “AoE freeze punishes stacking” and an enrage phase for this fight name no source, and this page does not repeat them.

Starting the fight: the Knot, the Altar, and the sealed chamber

The in-game codex states that “at the start of the match, the Mist Lord’s chamber will be sealed and inaccessible for a period of time” — which is why you cannot rush him off spawn, and why squads camp the seal. Einherjar mode is activated by using a Dried Flower Knot at the Altar in the Mist Lord’s area; the official speedrun rules from BETA 3 timed runs “from when the Dried Flower Knot is used to activate Einherjar Mode”, which is as close to an official mechanic statement as exists.

  • The Dried Flower Knot is a Legendary key item: a rare world drop on Chaos and Cataclysm, also listed on the Auction House under Item → Key → Legendary.
  • It must sit in the Key Ring slot. Carried in ordinary inventory, the game blocks you from queuing — the gotcha DrybearGamers flags as the most confusing part of the 6 August update.
  • The 6 August patch is what made this current: “Dried Flower Knots will now start to drop! Challenge Mist Lords in Einherjar mode.”
  • Quest gating, in the game’s own words: “Kill the Mist Lord General Harald in Chaos mode” and “Participate in killing Einherjar General Harald on any map with a Gyldening Intensity of Chaos or Cataclysm.”
§02

His health, by mode — and why the sites disagree

Two sites publish Harald’s health and differ by roughly a factor of three. Both are quoting the same datamined table and dropping the mode column: his profile scales from 3,430 HP (solo, Normal, Hallowgrove) through 8,232 (trio Normal) and 9,526 (trio Chaos) to 10,518 (trio Cataclysm, Brandrgarde), with attack rising 332 to 493 across the same span. Defence 705, block rate 50%. Datamined, all of it — no official source publishes boss numbers — but the shape of the table is what resolves the contradiction the flat quotes created.

The sight numbers nobody else runs

The same datamined profile carries his perception, and one row of it is genuinely tactical: Harald’s sight radius is 6,000 with a 70° vision cone, but it drops to 4,000 outside the fog circle and near an escape portal. The Gyldenmist and the extraction points are real cover against him. His hearing is 350, he engages at 4,000, and he will chase to 8,000 for up to 99 seconds at speed 375 — so breaking line of sight without breaking distance does not shake him quickly.

  • These are datamined constants, not observed behaviour. Treat them as a strong prior, not a guarantee, and expect a patch to move them silently.
  • A launch-week known issue — “occasional impassable areas may appear in the level while challenging General Harald” — was officially fixed in the 30 July update. Terrain jank in old clips predates the fix.
§04

Drops: the range, not the flat number

The number everyone prints for his signature Holy drop — Wulfen Einherjar – Oathkeeper at 31.1% — is the top of a mode-dependent range, 10.3% to 31.1%, that rolls one of 36 class-matched pieces, and the 31.1% peak belongs to Brandrgarde Cataclysm specifically. Printing the peak with the range stripped off is the first of two errors circulating; the second is a “Wolfrunner’s Relic, 25%” drop that appears nowhere in his table — the name comes from the quest he gates, Secrets · Soul of the Wolfrunner, apparently mistaken for loot. His most likely drops are unglamorous: Crystal Nectar at 54.2% and Bond of Friendship at 51.4%.

  • Bellring’s only official drop statement is directional: Einherjar Mist Lord kills carry “a higher chance of dropping Holy Weapons or Holy Forging Materials” (1 August announcement). No official percentage exists.
  • All specific rates above are MistfallDB’s datamined table, quoted with their mode conditions attached.
§05

The speedrun that keeps getting misdated

The Einherjar Harald Hunt Speedrun that surfaces in search results was a BETA 3 event: rules posted 19 September 2025, Chaos–Trio mode, timed from Knot activation to kill, invalidated if a second team touched him, Steam gift cards for the top 50, leaderboard published 24 September 2025. It is not a live event, and a page implying a current Harald speedrun would be wrong by eleven months. What the event text is still good for is mechanics: it is the official statement that the Knot starts the clock, and that the fight can be contested by other squads.

General Harald FAQ

Bring a Dried Flower Knot in your Key Ring slot — a Legendary key item from Chaos/Cataclysm world drops or the Auction House — wait out the seal on the Mist Lord’s chamber, and use the Knot at the Altar in his area to activate Einherjar mode. The chamber is contested: other squads can join or interfere.
