Patch 7 August 2026 update
Updated 2026-08-12

How to Trade in Mistfall Hunter

There is no direct trade and no gifting — the one player who publicly tested dropping loot for a friend reports the extraction crow mailed it back to him. Every real transfer is an Auction House sale for Gyldenblod.

Short answer

You sell; you do not trade. The game has no player-to-player trade window and no gifting, and the workaround everyone tries first — dropping an item mid-run for a friend to grab — reportedly does not survive extraction: the player who tested it publicly says the crow mailed the dropped items back to him after the run. What actually moves items between players is Pip’s Auction House at camp, and that is a sale for Gyldenblod at a price you set, not a swap.

Where this is being asked · The 31 July "Pass items to friends" Steam thread, which is the whole answer in miniature: one player suggests the drop trick, and the asker comes back a day later to report the crow undid it.

Evidence

The answer, broken into claims

A grade describes sourcing, not truth. Inferred means we concluded it and the reasoning is shown; unverified means someone asserted it and nobody stands behind it.

  • CorroboratedThere is no player-to-player trade window or gifting system; the Auction House is the transfer channel that exists.

No source in the launch window describes a trade UI, and the thread that went looking for one was pointed straight at workarounds.

  • UnverifiedItems dropped for a friend mid-run are returned to the original owner by the extraction mail after the run.

One player’s test, reported back in the 31 July thread. Nobody stands behind it officially — but nobody has posted it working, either.

  • OfficialThe equipment detail page shows average sale price, and the Auction House shows the price and quantity distribution of current listings.

§01

Every way people try to move an item, and what actually happens

The table is short because the game keeps it short. One channel works, one is officially described, and the intuitive ones are dead ends.

§02

So "trading with a friend" means the auction, priced kindly

If the goal is getting a specific item to a specific person, the only supported route is listing it where they can buy it. That has the obvious problem — anyone can buy it first — and the market’s own answer: list at an off-hour, tell them the moment it is up, and price it low enough to be grabbed fast. Nothing about that is elegant, and this page will not pretend it is a trading system. It is a marketplace with no whisper function.

§03

What to sell in the first place

Half the people searching "how to trade" are really asking what is worth listing. The short version this site documents elsewhere: duplicates become currency instead of vendor trash once the Auction House is unlocked, equipment of a given level generally clears above the NPC price, and the gold-farming guide ranks the sources. The gear-loot guide owns the keep-or-sell decision; this page just owns the fact that the auction is where selling happens.

Expiry condition

What would have to change for this answer to be wrong

An answer about a live-service game without this is an answer with a hidden expiry date.

A patch adds a trade window, gifting, or mail between players — any of which would be a headline economy change, not a quiet one — or someone posts a reproducible counter-example of the mid-run drop surviving extraction, which would soften the crow claim below.

Every source, with its date

Related questions

Not directly. There is no trade window or gifting, and the drop-it-for-them trick reportedly undoes itself — the crow mails dropped items back after the run. The Auction House is the one supported transfer, and it is a sale.
