The five countries, in Bellring's own words
The Official Launch FAQ (24 July 2026) answers the server question directly: "We are currently deploying server locations across 5 countries: China, the United States, Germany, Singapore, and Brazil." Note the phrasing — five countries, not five regions. The only official mapping of countries to regions is older, from the March Dev Team FAQ: North America (United States), Europe (Germany), Asia-Pacific (Singapore), South America (Brazil). That four-region list omits China, which appears only in the five-country lists — consistent with a separate mainland deployment, though Bellring has never said so explicitly, so treat that reading as inference rather than fact.
- Japan and Korea both had servers in earlier betas — Japan in BETA 3, Korea in BETA 2 — and both were dropped before launch. No official post explains the removal.
- A competitor page claims Europeans play with "no dedicated EU server". The FAQ lists Germany. That claim is simply wrong.

The NA region lock, exactly as stated
The entire region-lock system rests on one official sentence, from the same Launch FAQ: "due to compliance requirements, store accounts registered in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will download the North American build by default and will only be able to access the North American servers (located in the US)." Three details in that sentence carry all the weight. The trigger is the store account's registered country — not your IP, not where you sit. The stated reason is "compliance requirements", and that is the entirety of the official explanation. And it is a build-level split — NA accounts download a different client — not a greyed-out row in a server picker.
- The direction of the wall is commonly stated backwards: the lock traps NA accounts inside NA. A European player is not blocked from any server — their US friend is blocked from leaving.
- The theory that a US publishing arrangement explains the lock circulates on the Steam forums and has been picked up by guide sites as fact. It is pure speculation; Bellring has named no publisher, contract or regulation.
Switching regions: what is official, and what it reportedly costs
Bellring has published nothing on region switching — no statement on whether region is fixed at account creation, whether characters transfer, or whether the game shows per-server ping. What exists is community testimony from the launch-week Steam threads: switching means installing the other build, and progress does not come with you, because characters are per-build. One post-launch player confirms the swap worked and "all your progress will be gone"; another reports the non-NA build offers a server picker across EU and SA. A single report says a VPN did not beat the lock — thin evidence, but no report contradicts it.
- Per-server characters and progress loss: community-corroborated by multiple players, never officially confirmed.
- The "server selection screen before character creation" and in-game ping display that guide sites describe have no traceable source, official or community. Graded unverified here.
Where the fix stands
The newest official word is the 10 July community AMA, under "Servers, Regions, and Cross-Region Play": asked for updates on region unlocking, Bellring answered, in full, "We are currently working on a solution. Please bear with us and stay tuned for updates." No timeline, no mechanism. A developer reply on the Steam region-lock thread — "we will try to find alternative solutions" — predates that and is beta-era (22 June, during the open beta), a distinction no other coverage makes. Every official post from 1 August onward has been checked: none mentions regions, so the AMA answer is still the current state.
Crossplay is a different axis, and only one of them is confirmed
The Launch FAQ confirms cross-platform matchmaking in three words: "Yes, it does." That is crossplay — PC, PS5 and Xbox in one match pool. It says nothing about cross-region play, which is the thing the region lock blocks. The confusion between the two axes is what fills the Steam threads: crossplay being on makes the region wall feel like a bug, but they are separate systems, and only one of them has an off switch coming ("working on a solution"). The scoping detail every guide adds — that crossplay works "within the same server" — is almost certainly right given the build split, but no official source states it.
