Mistfall Hunter Mercenary Solo Build (Parry Sword & Shield)
Master Deemo’s post-launch parry Mercenary solo build: the shield-bash stun line, cooldown reduction off shield dash, the Stone Breaker counter, and the Elusive / Vitality / Valor affix core.

No pass names an entry this build lists, and that is the limit of the entry list rather than the build's exposure. This is a blocking build and Perfect Block has moved twice without ever appearing in its skills: the stagger duration it inflicts was reduced on 19 August and increased again on 3 September. The automatic check cannot see a skill the build does not name, so treat the post-block timing in the footage as the thing to retest first. The four talents it does take — Rising to the Challenge, Absolute Punishment, Stone Breaker Counter, Resilient Body — are untouched across all four passes. Documentary check only, no in-game retest by this site.

Bellring Games publishes no official build guidance. Every build on this site is one named creator’s setup transcribed from their own video, never a consensus assembled here — see all builds for the ones that disagree with this one.
What it does
The premise
A parry-first sword-and-shield Mercenary for solo queue. The first two thirds of the source video is matchup footage against every other class, and the build that follows is shaped by those matchups: it is built to stay glued to a target, punish anything that swings, and keep shield bash available almost permanently.
The loop
- Block or perfect-block to survive the opening, rather than trading.
- Shield bash while blocking to stun anyone still attacking into you.
- Landing shield dash on a player strips cooldowns, which brings shield bash back for a permanent chase.
- Convert each stun into a quick combo instead of holding the block.
Skills
Skill slots, and what is deliberately left out
The build’s engine: the dash animation itself is a block, so it doubles as an approach and a defensive window.
The creator distinguishes this from the faster perfect block on right click. Both exist; the separate parry skill is the one the Stone Breaker talent modifies.
Talents
Talents in the creator's stated priority order
Listed in the order they recommend spending points, not in tree order — the first entries are the ones that change how the build functions rather than how hard it hits.
Called a must for shield bash: after successfully blocking during shield bash, enemies hit by the skill are stunned. Because the dash animation is already a block, anyone still shooting or swinging into you eats a stun and a free combo.
The last stage of shield dash reduces skill cooldowns when it hits an enemy player. This is what turns the chase into a loop — shield bash comes back up fast enough to keep pressure permanently.
For the separate parry skill: grants super armor during the counter so lingering hitboxes cannot cancel it, and increases the parry skill’s damage. Taken as consistency insurance rather than for raw power.
Considered and rejected. It grants two stacks of Indomitable Will after a charge-up skill, which lets a hammer Mercenary pre-stack before a fight. The creator’s objection is consistency: you cannot always pre-stack, and long fights let the stacks expire. Presented as preference, not error.
Affixes

Execution
The parts that are technique, not gear
Copying the talent tree gets you none of this. These are the patterns the creator demonstrates on camera.
The dash is a block 18:30
The reason Rising to the Challenge is rated a must is mechanical, not statistical: shield bash blocks throughout its dash. Against a ranged class that keeps firing as you close, the approach itself converts their damage into your stun.
Build the affix core first, then branch 22:00
The creator is explicit that the three affixes are a floor rather than a finished build: once Elusive, Vitality and Valor are in place, the remaining slots are free to push damage, bulk or a hybrid according to preference.
Honest limits
What this build is bad at
A build page without this section is an advertisement.
- It is a chase build. Against a ranged player who never lets you close, the same matchup problem the class has everywhere still applies.
- The Elusive and Vitality picks are contested — see the disagreement note below.
