Mistfall Hunter Stardust Sorcerer Build (Skills, Talents, Affixes)

Reddalf’s post-launch Stardust Sorcerer build: why the instant-cast talents are non-negotiable, the Meteor Charm evade-bait, and why Eloquence below five makes the class unplayable.

§01

What it does

The premise

A Stardust build that treats the spec’s defining trick — skipping the chant phase — as the whole point, then spends its affix budget on being allowed to cast at all. The creator’s framing is blunt in both directions: without the instant-cast talents the spec is unplayable, and below five stacks of the anti-interrupt affix the class is unplayable.

The loop

  1. Open at range and force the opponent to commit to an approach.
  2. Hold a fully-charged Meteor Charm and wait — most players will attack into a visible chant.
  3. Evade the moment they commit, then release; the follow-up lands while they are recovering.
  4. Landing one Meteor Charm means immediately sending the second.
§02

Skills

Skill slots, and what is deliberately left out

  1. Meteor Charm04:00

Called the top damage dealer of the build and the payload for the evade-bait pattern.

  2. Rock Blast03:00

The instant-cast staple, and the swap-in for a more defensive setup.

  3. Tempest04:00

Kept for its interaction with the Storm Impact talent: enemies dodging out of it get a smaller dodge, so they are easier to hit and burn more energy.

  4. Meteor Impact02:30

Explicitly not a damage skill. It is the panic button against a confident super-armoured opponent — knock them down, then charge Meteor Charm while they get up, because players almost always spam an evade attack off the floor.

  5. Trap (tactical item)06:00

The one utility slot the creator commits to, rated very good in solo, especially against stealth openers.

§03

Talents

Talents in the creator's stated priority order

Listed in the order they recommend spending points, not in tree order — the first entries are the ones that change how the build functions rather than how hard it hits.

  1. Instant cast line (three talents)03:00

The three that skip the chant phase are called mandatory: "without the insta cast, Stardust is unplayable". The same line also reduces other cooldowns while the instant cast is on cooldown.

  2. No Escape03:30

Stated as a must, tied to Meteor Charm — the build’s primary damage source.

  3. Swift Strike02:30

Lets Meteor Impact knock up a target that still has super armor, which is what makes the panic button work at all.

  4. Storm Impact04:00

Very good alongside Tempest, but named as the flexible slot rather than a must.

  5. Quagmire03:30

Paired with Rock Blast. Flagged as swappable depending on which spells you took.

  6. Obstructed Passage05:00

Only if you run Gate: you pass through your own gate and gain movement speed while enemies cannot follow. Conditional, but a must when the skill is taken.

§04

Affixes

Affixes to chase

  1. Eloquence?05:30

The number one priority, above five stacks. The reason is mechanical: below five, essentially anything that hits you interrupts the cast, and a Sorcerer that cannot finish a cast has no build. The creator’s phrasing is that the class is "unplayable" under that threshold.

  2. Ranged06:00

Taken after Eloquence is satisfied, as part of a full-damage spread.

  3. Fervid?06:00

The other half of the damage spread. Note that the Blackarrow guide from Legacy Gaming calls the same-sounding affix "Fervor" — the caption spellings differ across sources, so treat the name as unsettled.

§05

Execution

The parts that are technique, not gear

Copying the talent tree gets you none of this. These are the patterns the creator demonstrates on camera.

Bait the evade with a held charge 04:00

The signature pattern, and the reason the build reads as a duelling build rather than a turret. Chanting is visible, and a visible chant makes opponents press buttons. Hold the fully-charged Meteor Charm, watch for their committed animation, evade once while still holding, then release — and immediately send the second charm, because a landed first one means the follow-up lands too.

Blink through melee, not away from it 08:30

Against dash-heavy melee like a Withered Knight, the creator blinks into and behind the chaser rather than retreating. They usually continue forward, which hands you the spacing that running never would.

§06

Honest limits

What this build is bad at

A build page without this section is an advertisement.

  • Two hard thresholds gate the build: the instant-cast talents and five stacks of the anti-interrupt affix. Miss either and the creator says the spec does not function.
  • Meteor Impact occupies a slot that does almost no damage — it is bought purely as an escape valve.
  • The same creator notes elsewhere in the video that Stardust is the weaker of the two Sorcerer specs in some solo contexts, so this is a spec preference, not a class verdict.

Questions about this build

Eloquence above five stacks first, because below that threshold almost anything that hits you interrupts your cast. After that the creator runs a damage spread of Ranged and Fervid, and treats the remaining slots as free.
