Effect / use

Sockets into matching equipment and grants affixes. The official design allowed up to two affixes per gem and described one universal socket type; those exact live limits still need a current tooltip capture.

Acquisition

Official design: drops from enemies, alongside equipment, or with forged equipment. Launch coverage also shows forge crafting and four matching socket shapes.

Loss / ownership rule

The gem has no durability, but its effects switch off when the socketed equipment reaches zero durability.
